They Sold Their Souls For Corporate Control

"For what shall it profit a man,
 if he shall gain the whole world,
 and lose his own soul" in the process?

Big business fancies this a sign of global progress.

Our tacit approval will suit them just fine.
You don't even have to sign, 
away your life, on the dotted line.
They will pay out their huge bonuses just fine,
their sole devotion, being their bottom line.

If only there'd...
to which they'd have adhered,
another capitalist model, 
where'd they not get ensnared.

Lamentable yes,
impossible no.
There are other directions,
in which to go! 

Demand that world governments unwind,
our eternal fate by global design.
Though many may claim through no fault of my own;
it is big oil that is heating our home.

Lest we be judged by denial our own.
We must pay all reparations within history's tome.
There's no use in trying to pretend; 
time will absolve us all when,
our lives were made easy,
off the backs of the oppressed,
and now we and our children so comfortably rest,
upon empty laurels touted by a profiteering West.
